Beware of Little Girls!

Modern cynics and skeptics... see no harm in paying those to whom they entrust the minds of their children a smaller wage than is paid to those to whom they entrust the care of their plumbing. ~John F. Kennedy

Little Girl at School

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"
The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

Mom and Daughter Conversation

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head. She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"

Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said,
"Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"

Thursday Thirteen (12th)

Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you haven't fallen asleep yet!

Thirteen Things to say when......

You are caught asleep at your desk!

#1 ~ I was looking at the desktop real close for my lost contact lens. I found it and I was trying to pick it up without using my hands.

#2 ~ errr, ummm, I ahh, there was a note inside my eyelids and I was trying to read it, yeah yeah that’s it that’s the ticket.

#3~ War flashbacks…guard duty, guard duty, heavy guard duty!

#4 ~ When I was leaving the blood bank they told me this might happen.

#5 ~ I was just taking a 15 minute power-nap like they raved about in that time management course you sent me to.

#6 ~ Phew! Guess I left the top off the liquid paper. (fumes) You probably got here just in time!

#7 ~ I wasn’t sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new paradigm.

#8 ~ I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance.

#9 ~ I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stress. Are you discriminatory toward people who practice Yoga?

#10 ~ Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem!

#11 ~ Oh Wow! See what happens when you come in at five in the morning and the coffee machine is broken?

#12 ~ Somebody put decaf in the wrong pot!

I saved the best for last:

#13 ~ Raise your head and say Amen!

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged!

Let it Snow

“Hindsight explains the injury or trouble that foresight would have prevented”

*shakes head…..yaha yaha I spose we should have taken the trampoline apart before the snow……

The loader can’t git up there…..

glad we saved a shovel…....

In Memory of Orville C. Syverson

I look at all the people in my life. I spent more time with this man than I did any other person in my life. We worked together every day for years. We worked after work together for years and years. As if working together all the time wasn’t enough we spent countless hours visiting each other when we were not working. I knew him better than I have known anyone. The endless memories have just been pouring through my brain endlessly since he passed.
I am hurting from this loss.
I will miss him very much.

I wrote a letter that was read at his funeral on Saturday, December 23, 2006.

Dear Orv,

Farewell my dearest friend! But not farewell
All my fondest thoughts of you;
Will dwell within my heart and they shall cheer and comfort me.

Life seems so much better because your life was connected to mine.
I have known no men more true than you.

I feel honored to have known you.
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be in your presence.
When I was with you I had no doubt I was in the presence of greatness.

We lived, we worked, we loved, we shared, we laughed, we cried. Although you are gone you will remain forever with me in all of my fondest memories. I shall never forget the wonderful experience of sharing my life with yours.

I could not put into words the impact you have had on my life.

Death is nothing at all,
You have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, we are still.
I will call you by your old familiar name,
I will speak to you in the easy way in which I always did.
I will laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
I will smile when I think of the many memories we shared.
Life means all that it ever meant.
Why should you be out of my mind because you are out of sight?
I will miss you so very much.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life.

I can hear you saying the words of Winston Churchill.
“I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.” (This brought laughter from all of the people who attended the funeral because it would be just like him to say that!)
