“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.”
~Dalai Lama

I was busy lately with the preparation of our painting Exposition, yesterday was vernissage and today I will be there again the whole day. But it's a lot of fun !

Hi Raggedy ~~ Great post and I think
that the Dalai Lama is a great man for peace. It is so sad that his beloved Burma is in such a mess.
Hope you are doing well at work and
in the rest of your life. Take care.
Much love, Merle.

Isn't it a shame so many people look for happiness without ever considering other people? To be happy, you need: 1. Something to do, 2. Someone to love, and 3. Something to look forward to.

Great words, not always easy to live....!Would that THAT was not the case...!

Thank you dear Raggedy for your sweet words on my post about Carol Bruce....I think those two links are the only ones on YouTube has, unless other things have been added since early this morning...I am hoping that more links will surface....She really did have a "heartbreak" voice....

I wish I knew how to add stuff from YouTube to my blog...Maybe you could give me detailed instructions.
I have tried and it just doesn't seem to work.....And I don't know why...Grrrrr. Very frustrating, I must say. (See? No love there....lol)

I love the quote. It reminds me of one of the few Sunday School lessons I remember from my grade school years that focused on how joy comes from service.

On a side note, my daughters have discovered they're happiest when they have work to do. They whine less and treat each other better when they have chores to do than on days when I don't have them do anything. I think it's the principle of service at work here, too.
