Northwood Tornado

Power is restored in our home. There are still parts of Northwood without power. Looking around town I feel guilty for how fortunate we are to have suffered so little damage when so many have suffered greater loss.
Joe spent the day working at the Grocery store helping out. The structural engineers came and it has been determined that the store will need to be rebuilt so everything has to be removed. He has been busy helping them for several days now. He used to work there before the tornado. He was supposed to work the 4-7pm after school last Monday. Things are very different now.

The High School students will be starting school on Tuesday in a nearby town and the K-6 will be going to a town quite some distance away. I feel for the parents of very young children having to send their young children so far from home.
Jaycee wants a cake with construction equip
ment on it. I don’t know if it is because of the tornado of if she just likes construction stuff. She keeps calling it the big tomato and hopes that we don’t ever have another big tomato come again.

The Red Cross fed us dinner. The tables were decorated with some pretty flowers. We had stew, biscuits, chicken wings, and fruit cocktail. Jaycee also had a banana.

The big machinery noises in our little area have been replaced with the sound of saws, drills, and hammers during the day and they start early and continue until dark. The generators have finally stopped and it is much quieter here. I actually slept fairly well last night.

Hi Raggedy ~~ So glad you have the power back on - that makes it all a
lot better - and quieter. There is still a lot of work to do to put it all right again. I hope there will not be any more big tomatoes. I
hope Jaycee had a good birthday in spite of everything. Do take care
my friend. Love, Merle.

Glad to hear about the progress! You're building a nice photo album of disaster and recovery, American-style.

At least the present weather is okay -- I can just imagine what it would be like had that thing hit in December or January. Be well, Rags.

glad the power is on and things are moving to get better.
glad your back, sorry this mess came to you.
but remember the Lord will see you through.we may get knocked down but we never stay down cause Jesus picks us up.
when we go through the storm we come out the other side stronger then we went in.
and we learn whats important in life.things that live are what counts.every thing else can be rebuilt.God is faithful.
so glad your back.but do not over do.we love you but do not want you to over do.so rest when you need to.
