Northwood Tornado Hit Raggedy's Town

In the words of Trucker Bob... All the pictures Embiggen!
You just have to click on em....

Just a quick note to let y'all know that we made it through the storm. The tornado hit Sunday night. We stayed in the basement and we had a guest of our son, Joe, here with us. The sirens were blaring to warn us. We could feel the suction in our ears. The toilet flushed in the basement and she hit hard and fast. The parents of Joe’s friend were able to pick him up later in the evening because we live on the very south end of town. They suffered hail damage to their vehicle trying to get here to pick him up.

We still do not have power and I don't know when it will be restored. We rigged up a generator and that is why I am able to post this but I will have to shut the computer down after posting. I will share a few pictures. We were very lucky. We had some minor damage to the house and one vehicle. We lost all but two of our very old and large trees but it is minor compared to the damage that surrounds us. One man was killed in the storm. There were some very minor injuries as well. The town folk consider themselves lucky and we know that we will do what is necessary to bring the town back in time. All you can hear outside are voices, chain saws, trucks and generators. Everyone is busy cleaning and clearing the debris. Men have been strapping tarps over roofs and patching to keep whatever rain is coming from doing any more damage to the already damaged homes. Everyone is pitching in and helping each other. A church is set up to help feed people. I heard the Red Cross was also here. We have our own generator so we have what we need here at the house. The main concern at this point is the restoration of power. I don’t know when I will be able to post again. I miss you all very much.

Huggles and Love to all.

Boy howdy, this is some blaster. I am very (and supremely) gladdened that you didn't get hurt and that your property is sort of o.k. I have never been through one of those, and I don't plan to.

It's terrific that you're back. These are some fine photos. You da babe!

Glad to see ya back, Raggedy..and what a return! Reminds me of damage I saw up close in my younger days in Iowa. Small wonder I chase these things when they dance on Colorado terra firma.

Glad all of yours are well and fine!

My friend I am so relieved you and your family suffered no more damage than you did. I'm glad there was only one that lost their life---even one is too many but most times with a storm of this magnitude there is more.

It is so great to hear from you, I have missed you more than words can express. This summer has not been very good to me with the heat but I know things will get better.

Take care of you and return to us as soon as you feel up to it. Sending you lots of love my friend.

First things first, Welcome Back! A lot of people have been waiting for this.
And now this, your first post had to be such terrible news and pictures. I'm glad you all are ok, but feel for those injured and the family of the one who died.
..
PS. I have quite a few Adi pictures on, but until October at least, I have shut things down except for
http://jimmiehov6.blogspot.com/
Check it out when you can. Don't overdo things, we don't want any setbacks.

Dear Raggedy ~~Great to have you back, but it took a tornado to do it.
Glad you are safe and so glad Joe hadn't started at the school before
this disaster. The pictures are wonderful, though sad for the people who had damage to their properties any any who were injured. Sad that even one life was lost. Do hope you are feeling much better yourself - the typing is fine - congrats.Don't worry about us, just when you feel up to it and
the power is back on. Take care, Dear friend, Love, Merle.

Oh m'gosh! It is a wonder a lot more weren't killed. I'll read more about it in your papers on line. Here, one day after the trajedy and it isn't news anymore.

I suppose the kids will have to go to surrounding towns for school?
Thank God for your generator.

I'm glad you are "staying cool!"
Stealing a little,
Huggles and Love to the Cool One!

The devastation was horrific, the loss of even 1 life tragic, but things and building can be replaced and they will. Northwood will be again. Each Tommorow will be brighter.

I was close a tornado one time in Aurora, Illinois. It was one the scariest things I ever experienced.

Thank God and the stars that you and your family are okay.
